Sabbath keeping is a sign of belonging and sanctifying by God and not Satan, according to Exodus 31:12-18

(12) And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,
(13) Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily ye shall keep my sabbaths: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am Jehovah who sanctifieth you.
(14) Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that profaneth it shall surely be put to death; for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
(15) Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day is a sabbath of solemn rest, holy to Jehovah: whosoever doeth any work on the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
(16) Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.
(17) It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days Jehovah made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
(18) And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, the two tables of the testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.

Origin of sabbath is from the end of the Creative works of Yeshua the Creator(John 1:3)

(1) And the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
(2) And on the seventh day God finished his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
(3) And God blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it; because that in it he rested from all his work which God had created and made.

We read in Genesis 2:1-3 that Yeshua rested. What were Adam and Eve doing? Did they also rest with God or already reject the sabbath day? Believing non-believers ask for a verse stating that Adam and Eve kept the sabbath or rested with God. Comprehension calls those believing detractors out.

When Yeshua became flesh, He stated that the sabbath was made for man (Matthew 12:8, Mark 2:27-28). Understandably, because all men come from Adam. If we are human beings, the sabbath day was made for us, descendants of Adam and Eve.

(27) And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
(28) so that the Son of man is lord even of the sabbath.

The sabbath day stands out of the other six days in that Yeshua blessed and sanctified (made holy) the seventh sabbath (rest) day.

Is it possible that Yeshua, after asserting ownership of the seventh day when He was in the flesh, changed His mind after His Ascension to inspire people to tell them that He no longer wants the seventh day but will exchange the seventh day for the first day of the week that He gave to men since His Creation?

What happened to sabbath keeping from the Creation to the Exodus?

I cannot find sabbath keeping mentioned in the Scriptures before the writings of Exodus 16:23-30. We do not read any new commandment establishing sabbath keeping before Exodus 16:23. However, the tone of Exodus 16:23 hints that sabbath keeping was common knowledge. The Hebrew text does not have the definite or an indefinite article before the phrase ‘holy sabbath unto Jehovah‘ as we read in the passage.

(23) And he said unto them, This is that which Jehovah hath spoken, To-morrow is a solemn rest [sabbaton], a holy sabbath [sabbat] unto Jehovah: bake that which ye will bake, and boil that which ye will boil; and all that remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.
(24) And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not become foul, neither was there any worm therein.
(25) And Moses said, Eat that to-day; for to-day is a sabbath unto Jehovah: to-day ye shall not find it in the field.
(26) Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day is the sabbath, in it there shall be none.
(27) And it came to pass on the seventh day, that there went out some of the people to gather, and they found none.
(28) And Jehovah said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws?
(29) See, for that Jehovah hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.
(30) So the people rested on the seventh day.

What can learn from what is reported in Exodus 16:23-30?

In Exodus 16:23, we read that Moses transmitted to the Israelites the plan of Yeshua for the sabbaton that is a holy sabbath unto Yeshua not unto any man or any other Beings in Heaven. Yeshua told them to prepare food for the sabbaton because they are not permitted to prepare food on the sabbath of Yeshua. They obeyed and the food did not get spoiled. Moses told them that there will not be any manna on the seventh day, as he told them to gather double portion the sixth day.

However, in verse 27, we read that, for whatever reason, some people went out anyway on the seventh day to look for food, in defiance of the commandements of Yeshua.

Who did Yeshua blame on the account of those who did not listen? Everyone, according to verse 28! Yeshua blamed them not only for the single disobedience of going out to look for food but for not keeping ‘my commandments and my laws’, plural. Were there prior incidents of disobedience or is it the doctrine of all or nothing of Ezekiel 33:13 as echoed in James 2:10?

(13) When I say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his righteousness, and commit iniquity, none of his righteous deeds shall be remembered; but in his iniquity that he hath committed, therein shall he die.

James 2:10 ASV
(10) For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is become guilty of all.

Yeshua, in verse 29, explains that He gave a double portion so that the Israelites did not have to go out to look for more. Because of the disobedience, the Israelites lost the freedom to go out on the sabbaton. They were to stay inside from now on. Would there be someone who does not listen again after His rebuke?

Whether or not this is the first time Yeshua started teaching the Israelites the seriousness and the importance of the sabbaton, it shows that there always has been someone who refuses to be entirely part of the group. Does Yeshua tolerate less than perfection to bring Him to compromise or close His eyes on a random naysayer among His people?

Ezekiel 33:13 that is echoed in James 2:10 shows again the stance of Yeshua against the individual who decides to be less than perfect in obedience to Him and takes a firm position in a lie, an iniquity. ‘If he trust to his righteousness’, Yeshua says, not that if he falls again and again in battling against Satan.

Someone got killed in relation to sabbaton observance. What was the reason that he was made an example?

In course of time, the command of Yeshua to the Israelites to not go out on the sabbaton came to test. According to Numbers 15:32-36, one Israelite was found picking up sticks.

(33) And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation.
(34) And they put him in ward, because it had not been declared what should be done to him.
(35) And Jehovah said unto Moses, The man shall surely be put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp.
(36) And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him to death with stones; as Jehovah commanded Moses.
